Daily News staff BULLHEAD CITY — A tradition now in its seventh year, Veterans United is again selling wreaths to be displayed on the north peninsula of the Arizona Veterans Memorial. Wreaths may be purchased to honor any veteran, living or not, from any time period, from any state, said Bullhead City Council member Mickey McClure, president of Veterans United. The wreaths are available for purchase beginning now through Jan. 15 and will remain on display until Jan. 17. Each wreath will bear the name of the service member and the name of its sponsor. The organization will hold an opening day ceremony for the display on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. Wreath sponsorship levels include twenty wreaths for $400, 10 wreaths for $200, five wreaths for $100 or one wreath for $25. Since 2008, as part of the tradition, Veterans United with the help of its sponsors has placed a Christmas wreath and an American flag in honor of each of the 160 fallen Arizona service members who served during the Gulf Wars. In addition, a large wreath will be placed in front of the main memorial on the south entrance of the peninsula. Veterans United Inc., a nonprofit corporation, is seeking financial help in paying for the tribute this year. Funds will be used to pay for the wreaths and the display. Any remaining funds will go toward financing continued construction at the Veterans Memorial Park. Tax-deductible contributions may be mailed to Veterans United, P.O. Box 23253, Bullhead City AZ, 86439.
