Daily update for August 4, 2014: . We had 15 calls in all with 6 of them occurring in Alpine and 9 in Highland. We had a bunch of animal problem calls. . We had a Highland resident report his vehicle being stolen. Officer Thacker arrived at the residence to take the report. Once he got the vehicle description, Officer Thacker remembered seeing that vehicle nearby. It turns out the resident had drove their vehicle to church and forgot they drove it there and walked home. The next day they went out to use their vehicle and it was gone and they thought it had been stolen. . Officers were dispatched to the area of 6000 W. and 11000 N. on the report of a male laying on the sidewalk. Just as Officer Thurston arrived a van was leaving and a citizen pointed out that the van contained the male. Officer Thurston stopped the van and found a male and female inside, both Hispanic. There was a language barrier, so it was hard to communicate. It was found that the male had attempted to leave the vehicle while it was in motion(for whatever reason) and when he exited the vehicle as it was slowing moving, his foot partially hit the curb and twisted his ankle. It was found that nothing criminal had occurred. . A couple of suspicious calls, alarms and an email fraud rounded out the day.
