Daily update for August 5, 2014: . Several false alarms to start the early morning and day. . Public Peace - Highland - We had a Highland resident call in to report construction happening at 6:30 AM. She also advised that the workers had left.(Just a reminder that the noise ordinance for both cities is between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM) . Vandalism - Highland - Officer Zobell took a report from a Highland City worker who advised some property of Highland City had been tagged(spray painted). Along with several pictures and words, the letters BUB was used several times. Who wants to help me out? If anyone knows someone that has the initials B-U-B or goes by the nickname BUB and would do something like this, get a hold of me. Ill keep you anonymous.(btw, who ever did this was definitely no Van Gogh. Terrible art work) . Traffic Stop - Highland - Officer Zobell was traveling eastbound on Timp. Hwy. when he slowly passed a vehicle going in the same direction. As he passed the vehicle the driver looked over at Officer Zobell and then got a nervous look on his face.(Cops know that guilty look anywhere) Officer Zobell decided to slow down in order to get the license plate off the vehicle. The problem was, the vehicle that he had passed that had been doing about 45 MPH, was now also slowing down to less than what the speed limit was.(Another trick that all cops know) To make a long story short, Officer Zobell was able to run the plate, found out the vehicle had no insurance and the driver had a suspended drivers license. The driver was pulled over and cited for both offenses.(Sometimes our job is fun when we get to play these games. Personally my favorite is when I get behind someone and they immediately make a turn onto the next street. I just keep driving and then pull over. Sure enough, almost immediately they will pull back out of the street they had just turned onto and 9 times out of 10 they have warrants or a suspended license...etc and did that to avoid me) . Parking Problem - Alpine - Do I even need to explain this anymore? I dont know what we get called on more, animal problems, alarm calls or the parking issue at the top of Fort Canyon. . Medical - Highland - Officers and Medical Personnel got dispatched to Highland Glen Park on the report of a 3 year old that was found in the water. She was initially unconscious and not breathing. Luckily a deputy with the Utah County Sheriffs Office happened to be in the area. When officers and medical arrived, the little girl was now conscious and breathing, although coughing up pond water. She was life flighted to the hospital. Last update was that she was improving and would be held overnight for observation.(These types of calls are hard on all involved. Most of us have children and it brings you home really quick) . Accident - Highland - Officers were dispatched to a area of Highland on the report of a female who had rolled an ATV and was injured. Medical was also dispatched. I dont have all the details, but I was advised that the family was interfering with officers and medical who were trying to help the female which caused more of a problem then helped the situation. The female was transported to the hospital.
