The Spanish expression dar la vuelta (a) la tortilla has two meanings (at least in Spain): A literal one, meaning to flip the omelette (a key step when cooking a Spanish omelette). A figurative one, of very common use, meaning to turn the tables, to put things upside down, to change direction by 180º, to make a radical change: Cuando de la vuelta la tortilla en Corea del Norte los Kims no sabrán dónde esconderse (When the omelette flips in North Korea the Kims will not know where to hide).
