Daley, the county’s top prosecutor from 1980 to 1989, was subpoenaed through Katten Muchin Rosenman, the law firm with which he is now affiliated. Wrice, 59, is serving a 100-year prison sentence at the downstate Pontiac Correctional Center after being convicted of charges including rape. In January, Cook County Circuit Judge Evelyn Clay granted Wrice a hearing on his claims that two detectives from the Chicago Police Department working for then-Cmdr. Jon Burge beat the confession out of him. Burge is serving a four-year federal prison sentence for perjury in connection with his testimony in a civil case involving allegations that he and his detectives tortured suspects. The hearing for Wrice is scheduled for Sept. 23. His attorneys plan to ask Daley under oath about what he knew about allegations of torture by police.
