Darrell Issa’s storied military career included include being part of an elite bomb detecting unit that guarded President Nixon at the 1971 World Series. Unfortunately official records show that Nixon hadn’t gone to any World Series games that year. His stellar military record includes his strong relationship with fellow soldiers. He received a bad conduct rating resulting in a demotion after being found guilty of stealing a fellow soldier’s car. Immediately upon his discharge Issa and his older brother, William, found themselves involved with law enforcement. Ohio police arrested them for stealing a red Maserati from a Cleveland showroom. Issa’s interaction with law enforcement continued for years when police found a loaded.25-calibre Colt automatic inside a box of ammunition, along with a “military pouch” that contained “44 rounds of ammo and a tear gas gun and rounds of ammunition for it which the Police cited and arrested him. As a businessman, Issa was an innovator and proprietor of a successful security business. Unfortunately, his company burned down. He was accused of starting the fire himself when it was discovered that he had removed the company’s Apple II computer from the building, including all hardware, all software, all the instruction books and also the discs for accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer list, everything a day before the fire. He now serves as a congressman from California’s 49th District.
