Date: July 6 Location of the day: Paris Started off with some delicious French pastries. Then we headed to the Notre Dame Cathedral. We didnt know it when we went there that Sunday Mass was just about to start. Timing couldnt have been more perfect! When we got in, we could hear the most beautiful music (video posted earlier today). Walking around the cathedral, admiring everything about it, while listening to that music was just magical! Next stop was St. Chapelles Chapel, which is known for its magnificent stained glass windows. It contains 1,113 scenes depicted in 15 gigantic stained glass windows to tell the story of mankind from Genesis through to Christs resurrection. It was quite breathtaking! After that, we headed down to the Underground Paris tour. When we got there, we found out it was a 3 hour wait. This isnt covered by the Paris Pass (which we got). If something is covered by the Paris Pass, you just go straight to the front of the line, which we have been doing. It was pouring and windy and we werent going to stand in line for 3 hours, so we grabbed a late lunch, headed to the hotel, hoped for the rain to stop, and rested up for some night touring. Luckily, the rain did stop and we were able to do some night touring via bus and then via foot after that. While waiting for the sun to go down and grow dark (quite late this time of year), we popped open a bottle of wine (Riley got some crepes) and just enjoyed the sun going down, the Eiffel Tower slowly lighting up, and the people watching. Finally, the grand finale of our day (and probably all of Paris)- the Eiffel Tower all lit up, flashing, sparkling, and showing off (see video clip). I have never seen anything like it! Just incredible! Favorites of the day: We all agree that it is was when the Eiffel Tower lit up ( and Pat would like to add the food and wine too). Bummer of the day: Rain and wind in Paris is not what I had envisioned (but I have gotten a lot of use out of our umbrellas we bought in London)! Trivia of the day: Did you know that the construction of the Notre Dame started in the year 1129 and it has 14,000,000 visitors a year? Random thought of the day: #1-Why does the rain follow me wherever I go?#2- It is quite entertaining to watch people take pictures of themselves and each other!😄#3- Its 12:15 am and this city is still lively and hopping! Crazy! Food and drink of the day: pastries, tomato/bruschetta/mozzarella baguette sandwich, wine, crepes and more wine.🍷 Theme of the day: Music, lights, and videotape! Tomorrows agenda: The Louvre, and a surprise (it is crazy, but its all Pats idea. Youll have to wait until tomorrow to see what it is), and another night tour (different viewpoint).
