> Date: October 1, 2013 at 9:48:59 AM CDT > > Subject: Plano PD Resend Request 10/1/2013 > > The Plano PD has specifically requested that we resend this notice on targeted burglaries: > > Residential Burglaries targeting Asian, Indian, and Middle Eastern homes > > There have been a series of residential burglaries in the Plano/Dallas/Fort Worth area where the suspects seem to be targeting Asian, Indian, and Middle Eastern residences. The suspects may be casing the homes and breaking into the residence while the resident is away for a short period of time. Entry into the residence is made by smashing windows or patio doors and stepping through the window pane. Various items have been stolen to include jewelry and cash. The suspects are described as black or Hispanic males. > Here are a few tips residents can take that may reduce the risk of becoming a victim of this crime: > - Secure your valuables; if possible, keep your valuables in a wall or floor safe. > - If you do not have a home safe, consider securing gold jewelry in a bank. > (Remove it for a special event and return it as soon as possible) > - Register your jewelry for FREE on the national property register atimmobilize.net/. > - Call the Plano Crime Prevention Unit for a FREE home security assessment. 972-941-2431 > - Photograph all items of jewelry and retain those records. > - Have adequate household insurance that reflects the up-to-date value of your gold jewelry. > - When wearing jewelry in public, be cautious and discreet to avoid attracting unwanted attention. > - Consider joining your local Neighborhood Crime Watch (NCW). If your neighborhood does not currently have one, consider starting one up.
