Date of this memo: June 4, 2014 Bethesda, My mission is over at the Shelter according to the will of God not according to the will of anyone who believed to have control over me and my destiny. May 29 was my last day at the shelter after close to twelve dedicated years. Indeed, I should pay the shelter for allowing me to learn so much about myself and my purpose while dealing with the emotional and social needs of the clients. As a way to keep me away for anger and resentment, God officially sealed my ministry with a great victory as Bethesda received its Certificate of Occupancy on May 30th, 2014. It was not a coincidence! Indeed, I chose to celebrate that milestone with the church and to keep the shelter news for another day as the Holy Spirit commissioned me to talk about “Joy” on Sunday June 1st, 2014. surely, I was angry for a couple of days in regard of the reason of my termination (“At this time, we have decided to move forward with individuals that best match our organizational needs”). But, the Holy Spirit called upon my critical thinking to calm me down and get me to focus on God’s plan for me. Indeed, the shelter has been struggling to stay open for the last four years. Its not just a coincidence that the agency chose to abandon its traditional mission for just a dream or an ideal at the end of my theological studies. The timing was perfect! I trust my God so much! While the executive staff went over the separation procedure, I felt sorry for them, and if they were able to read my mind they would understand that my smile throughout their talking meant pity. I was the winner for many reasons: 1) They do not even know what direction they want to go with the organization. The place was no longer where morality and ethics used to be the trademark, 2) They do not have even a draft plan as they kept begging people to bring ideas. In fact, they nurture their own mediocrity and passiveness, 3) They did not pay attention to my expertise as I shared with them a couple of examples of working with families in needs while they want the agency to go back to its traditional roots: a faith-based organization 4) What are really their credentials, when they were unable to come with any plan to stabilize the sinking ship for the past four years. The board was obligated to call someone else to do so, 5) Competence for them is not a priority, but rather how comfortable they can be with certain people, fitting their lifestyle and characters that are contrary to any Christian values Therefore, I have to agree with them “I do not match their club needs”. In the end, I just believe that God wanted me to be upset to a point to experience people’s evil thinking and attitude. In short, my mission is over at the shelter. No turning back, no turning back! My joy remains strong as I spent time working along with my fellow brothers and sisters to move to the new place. My mission is sealed for good as the Holy Spirit anoints us “to PREACH the gospel to the poor, to HEAL the brokenhearted, to PROCLAIM liberty to the captives, and RECOVERY of sight to the blind, to SET AT LIBERTY those who are oppressed, to PROCLAIM the acceptable year of the LORD” Luke 4:18-19 (NKJV). Now, I am convinced that I DO NOT MATCH this organization needs, but I MATCH the KINGDOM of GOD needs through BETHESDA INT’L & MISSIONARY CHURCH. Here I am Lord!
