Dateline Philippines Update: PANAWONCO RE-ORGANIZED The general membership of the PANAWONCO INTERNATIONAL UNITED, INC. (PIUI), a duly registered association with Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), had, on its October 11 meeting, elected a new composition of its Board of Directors (BOD) and the executive officers led by a president. The new composition of the BOD had, in effect, amended the PIUI’s articles of incorporation from the original five (5) members to now nine (9). The decision of having expanded the Board is in anticipation of its plan to expand its reach as wider as possible among its “kababayan” in other countries including European Community (EC), the down-under group of Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, the Middle East, and the Asian neighbors such as Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Macau and Hong Kong, Japan, USA and Canada, among others. Receiving enthusiastic responses from online community of “cahimanwa” during its call for more free-charge membership announced by its former Officer-In-Charge Albert Rima, the Panawonco is proud to announce the composition of its Board and the new officers. Prominent among those which comprised the Association’s new expanded Board are: NATY JENSEN (European Community), NHEL EUSEBIO (Middle East countries), LILY VALENZUELA (Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Japan). To be revealed later is the director-designate for the so-called down-under countries including Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, New Caledonia. Completing the board are Sam Cerillo, Ruth Chua, Gomer Rafael, Gilbert Clarito and Lino Trinidad. So that more focus to globally touch base and solicit more membership among overseas “cahimanwa”, and, to undertake aggressive linkages and network with potential partners and resources in development work, the Panawonco’s new executive officers has widened its leadership. Aside from those basically provided in its by-law, considered noteworthy is the creation of position of vice president for international affairs. Expected to be sworn into office during Christmas lull, the new Panawonco’s officers are: President & Chairman of the Board – Lino Trinidad, Executive Vice President – Sam Cerillo, Vice President for International Affairs – Lucy Monterey, Treasurer – Gomer Rafael, Secretary – Ruth Chua, Auditor – Albert Rima, Business Managers – Jhena Babes Bron & Sonia Sanchez. Aside from confirming the critical role of its adviser in the person of Tita Ganda, an overall coordinator for Bicol Region and Catanduanes has been designated for a Pandan-based member. So that specific areas of work aimed at providing assistance for its intended beneficiaries – who are mainly their “cahimanwa” back home especially in Pandan (Catanduanes) - are promptly packaged, Working Committees were put into motion. Initially, these are: Development & Services (Oliver Icamen); Membership & Grievance (Jobert Dominguez & Riah Emerenciana); Education (Rica Vilarde & Melchora Villarey); Finance and Fund Sourcing (Lino Trinidad); Livelihood & Skill Development (Dherick Cristo); Climate Change & Disaster Management (Sonia Sanchez); Social & Cultural Affairs (Janilyn Cantar). A Legal Affairs Desk was also created to handle free legal services manned by volunteer lawyers. The Panawonco is off for aggressive campaign for cooperation through working partnership with friends and organizations – foreign and in the country, in development work particularly in the area of education, climate change & environmental sustainability, health and nutrition, income augmentation, skills and capability development and agricultural development. A supporter of the DepEd advocacy of “education for all”, the Panawonco, having been duly endorsed by the DWSD, will ensure that its participation to government’s social and emergency initiatives give bias to its intended beneficiaries especially for Pandan and select locations in the island province of Catanduanes. Motivated by the power of social media, espoused by Gilbert Clarito, the Panwonco’s founding chair, its members are inspired by the moving tribute clipped in a board resolution “as he had amazingly and painstakingly spearheaded high level of awareness to social media as a powerful tool and means for global understanding and cooperation, that, when given due importance, respect among peers, would redound to world peace and ease tension”. Many of Panawonco’s members introduced via social media are Pandananon (Pandan, Catanduanes, Philippines), who were lured to be counted guided by the thought of sharing time, talent and resources at creating an atmosphere of global peace, charity, esprit de corps and strength to go on with camaraderie as working principle in delivering assistance to their places of birth – Pandan beloved. Our association, PANAWONCO INTERNATIONAL UNITED INC. is welcoming membership. Please lodge/post your interest in this page/wall. (Ruth E. Chua, Secretary/Oct 12/QC, Philippines). ;
