Dave Canterbury demonstrating how to make hide glue. I have done this but a little bit different. I did get mine boiling till the hide began to break up. This releases all of the glue then I reduced the heat added a little water and skimmed off the gunk that floats to the top. Once all that is gone you cook slowly until most of the water is evaporated. You will have what looks like wood glue and rubber cement. In Daves video the glue is rubbery mine will harden and be like a rock. You can pulverize this into powder and add warm water to revitalize it. It takes way longer to do this but it gets all the glue out and when you use it it dries hard. Some people have laughed at me but if you do it correctly the glue is awesome.
