As the most powerful man in the country, David Cameron has a pretty sophisticated security team surrounding him most of the time. its not unheard of for gaps to appear in his protection detail. Heres a look at what we know about the measures in place to keep Cameron safe from harm. Who protects the prime minister? The prime minister is flanked by a team of highly trained close protection officers from the Metropolitan police and UK Special Forces. Members of the Prime Ministers protection unit can earn as much as £100,000 a year, when lucrative overtime is factored in. But its not the first time the teams attention to detail has been called into question. Many blamed the Prime Ministers protection detail for the incident when his eight-year-old daughter, Nancy was left in a pub near chequers in 2012. Although Nancy was clearly the PMs responsibility, his costly security team really should have noticed she wasnt there... so what we are questioning is how can a team of skilled specialists who earn over £100k a year to protect our PM 1) Let a jogger run straight up to David Cameron and literally be nose to nose with each other and 2) Leave Mr Camerons daughter behind in a pub? Time for a change in his security team I think? What are your views?
