David Sedaris on trying to explain the Easter bunny to a class in France. The punchline of this one brings to mind the Virgin of Guadelupe legend. Long before the tilma with the image icon, the church at Tepeyac had other icons said to possess the spirit of the Virgin Mary, including a bowl that got upgraded to a silver candelabra. No warm fuzzies there. So church officials had a copy made of the warm, brown, motherly Virgin painting that hangs in the choir room hallway at the Guadelupe church in Spain. Success!
