David Shealie (D.S.) Hautman October 3, 1921 - April 17, 2014 D.S. Hautman, Jr. ALBANY, GA - David Shealie Hautman, Jr., 92, passed away at home after an extended illness on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Visitation will be on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. CH(R) Ken Brown and Rev. Charles Jones will officiate. Burial will be at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or friends may contribute to the building fund at Byne Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 4444, Albany, Georgia 31707. A resident of Albany since 1940, Mr. Hautman was born in the Yeomans Community of Terrell County. He was the son of Sammie Jones Hautman and David Shealie Hautman and was preceded in death by six siblings, Anna Carol Hautman McWilliams, John Wesley Hautman, Frances Hautman Shaw, Sarah Hautman Wyche, Anne Hautman McKelvey, and Nell Hautman Culpepper. Mr. Hautmans youngest sister, Charlie Ruth Hautman Hitson, lives in Covington. An honorable member of the Greatest Generation, Mr. Hautman fought for his country in the Normandy and Ardennes campaigns as a sergeant in the 9th Airdrome Squadron of the Army Air Corps during World War II. For forty years he worked in the building materials business as owner and manager of East Albany Lumber Company. He was an active member of the Albany Exchange Club since 1948 serving a term as general manager of the Exchange Club fair. Mr. Hautmans proudest service was to Byne Memorial Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent for many years. Mr. Hautman is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Dorothy Griffin Hautman, three daughters and sons-in-law, Terree and Charlie Newberry of Gray, Cindi and Ken Brown of Dickson, Tennessee, and Dottie and Danny Jones of Statesboro, and eleven grandchildren, Kate Newberry, John Newberry (Suzanne), James Newberry, Kara Brown Herr (Niles), Joel Brown (Paige), Erin Brown Brewster (John), David Brown (Amanda), Russell Jones (Meredith), Adam Jones (Hailey), Bonnie Jones Ryckman (Jud), and David Jones (Maryanna). He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, Amelia and Charlotte Newberry, Griffin and Alana Herr, Kayden, Shepard, and Jesse Brown, Brady and Jenna Brewster, Callie and Kameron Brown, Daniel Jones, and Duncan and Portland Jones. The family would like to express appreciation to the Albany Community Hospice and Palliative Care staff, especially to Leslie Sellers, and to caregivers Brenda Williams and Brooke Winge.
