David destroys the Amalekites. David inquired of the Lord, through Abiathar the priest. God spoke through the priest and told David to pursue and overtake the enemy, and recover all that was lost. So, off David went to do battle, and took six hundred men with him. They came to the brook Besor, where he left two hundred men behind. Now, these two hundred men had marched and cried themselves until they grew weary and faint. They were physically unable to go any further. Thus, David assigned them to watch their supplies, and guard the road just in case the enemy came back that way. As David’s army marched over the brook Besor, they came upon an Egyptian left in the road for dead. They brought him to David, and gave him water, raisins and bread. When he got his strength back, this is what the Egyptian said.
