Day 1/30 proton treatments completed. Sorry if this makes you feel a little glum, please tell me if youd prefer not to have these details on this page. I felt sick, we saw lots of images of Lanas brain and where the tumour was, is and where the radiation will hit.. It looked like it took up a qtr of her brain and it was completely wrapped around her brain stem.. It made it all too real. When you cant see something you can try and forget the severity. Weve also been told today that the radiation treatment on her brain stem will be reduced in the last 2 days to reduce the risks of complications to normal risk, but with this the tumour isnt being blasted so added risk!!! Arghhhh. All pretty harrowing. Poor Lana had to wear a face mask and when she woke from The anaesthetic she had the imprint on her face - again another wake up call as to what shes going through. During our meeting with the consultant they kept calling the Dr to check they were zapping her correctly and within the exact boundaries... A day Id prefer not to have had to endure in my life. He also reminded us that the real side effects could take months/years before we see the true extent! I dont wish to sound negative, were still putting all our positivity into Lana but I owe it to you all to be honest. On a plus, shes still smiling and thats what matters today. AZo&l xx
