Day 1 April 28 Montreal to Antananarivo Madagascar via Paris Day 2 April 29 Met a nice couple on flight who let me stay with them for the first night in Madagascar. Day 3 April 30 Flight from Antananarivo to Antsiranana in the north. Picked up SIM card for phone and is working super! Hotel in expat district. Lots of hookers but pizza is great! Day 4 May 1 National Holiday Visit to Montagne dAmbre. Saw worlds smallest chameleon! Surreal! The size of a penny full grown. Saw other chameleons, small and large, changing colours and an injured one that was black having lost its capacity to absorb the surrounding light. Saw a chicken of the forest ibis, an amber tree whos sap exudes from the butress roots and hardens over time (or something), a parasitic vine that strangles trees and some epiphytic plants growing on the trees that collects its water from the rain. Nice views of the harbour around Antsiranana, the second largest in the world after Rio. Meeting many nice people and learning how to speak malgache/malagasy and getting to know the local currency.
