Day 10 of 21 #PrayBold Challenge: So then, take your stand! Fasten truth around your waist like a belt. Put on God’s approval as your breastplate. Put on your shoes so that you are ready to spread the Good News that gives peace. In addition to all these, take the Christian faith as your shield. With it you can put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (Ephesians 6:14-16 GW) We could spend days on each one of the pieces of armor that this scripture describes for us to dawn in order to stand our ground in spiritual warfare. But, as for us, today, I want us to focus on our faith as our SHEILD. Not forsaking the need we have for truth, Gods righteousness, and His Gospel of Peace...but there is something remarkable we found expounded about the SHEILD God defends and arms us with. Take a look: The shield was the soldier’s primary armor for battle. “Shield of faith” may mean the shield is faith. The believer’s primary armor against the devil and his schemes is trust in God and His promises. Roman shields were about four feet tall, made of wood, and covered with leather. The leather material would be soaked in water to extinguish flaming arrows. If the soldiers drew together in formation, placing their shields next to one other, they were nearly impossible to hit. Paul’s imagery shows the strength that believers can have when unified. The shield of faith not only protects them from flaming arrows, it also renders the arrows useless by extinguishing them. This SHEILD is useful (not just for your self...) and meant to be unified with other believers. Collectively, as WE pray bold prayers today, we are standing against the powers and rulers against dark forces in this world that we discussed yesterday. Today, as you pray, exercise your faith. Know that God is greater in you than any other. And, KNOW that you do not stand alone. Stand firm and sure behind the SHEILD that God has given us! Pray Bold. Much love and prayers with and for you today. #core500
