Day 130 of Thankfulness. We stayed in Balicbalic, Sampaloc with the ORODIO-HERMOSURA family. Dads sister CARIDAD Caring ORODIO who was married to PABLO HERMOSURA had a brood of 9. Our cousins were: Freddie, Jessie, Irma, Arnel, Carina, Joy, Lilibeth, Maricar and Leilani. Their biblical Joseph was Jessie who joined the US Navy when it was fashionable in the 70s... paving the way for the eventual migration of the entire ORODIO-HERMOSURA family to the USA. Interacting with my cousins summoned everything I learned from komiks and tagalog magazines. It gave me some sense of pride that I could speak fluently and was understood by my cousins despite my poor showing in Pilipino since grade school. Meeting the ORODIO-HERMOSURAS completed my introduction to all of dads 7 siblings and their families: spanning the mountainous Baguio terrain... to wartorn Mindanao... to the flatlands of Cabanatuan, San Fernando, and Tubao... to the glitzy and glamorous city of Manila... to beyond the Pacific Ocean to the shores of California, USA where many of the familiies of the Orodio siblings would migrate with the exception of the Estoreses who continually insisted on carving their own continent - settling down under in the land of the kangaroos and the emperor penguins.
