Day 169 in a very wet dull paradise Peter Kinlan no sunshine today - TopicsExpress

Day 169 in a very wet dull paradise Peter Kinlan no sunshine today and no blue skies. I have... I think its safe to say just experienced my first Altinkum THUNDERSTORM and unlike the UK it aint 3 little flashes of lightening in the distance and a little rumble of thunder :( The rain started at about lunchtime yesterday - it was light at first but then not even stair rods covers it !!! by 6pm the lightening started... To add to my wussiness, as I am not the worlds best in thunder storms the power went off about 8ish and I was in pitch black trying to find the torch to light the candles (although it looked pretty when they were all lit I was feeling far from fookin romantic :( By midnight I was pacing the floor in me PJs boiling water on gas for coffee and stressing big time as the windows and shutters rattled in their frames and the lightening was not getting past 1-1000 lol... I lay in bed trying to read, but then spotted a critter on the ceiling above my bed - armed with dustpan (and no glasses, cos I didnt really wanna know what it was) I flicked it down, screamed when it fell and landed on me bed then frantically scooped it up and sent it for a waterpark ride down the toilet. I think it was a little centipede?? Either way you guessed it I spent the rest of the night staring round the ceiling to make sure there were no more critters in my bedroom :( At about 1am I went on a wander round the inside of the building to check for leaks since we had had so much rain, managed to trip up the stairs and grabbed the rail with my poorly arm, and got to the top step crying with pain shooting from my shoulder down my arm. Mission accomplished - all drains working OK, and no apparent leaking anywhere. Back downstairs and out on the balcony for a fag... 1-1000,2-1000, 3-Bang still going strong. I sat and watched the water running down the street like a river - wondering if I should get a boat instead of a scooter lol... But, it seems the new roads and drains are working since the water was all heading down to the crossroads and into the storm drain :) instead of creating a lake. At least the leccie was only off for about an hour, so I then lay in bed reading some Danielle Steele tripe which was about all I could manage by then lol, and eventually the storm moved away and I woke up this morning with me glasses on and the book on the floor beside the bed where it fell :) On the upside :) it smells beautiful out there today all fresh and lovely :) Have a fab day everyone :) Big hugs from me :) xxx
