Day 18 When LOVE becomes tough Love, as patient and kind and gentle as it may be doesnt celebrate evil. It has a choice to love from a distance. Some people are good but their goodness does not have to be shared in your space. They better be set free to express and enjoy their love from a comfortable distance. God loves all people. His presence can be removed from some people who have no appreciation of who He is, especially those who have tasted the beauty of His holiness and valued it for nothing. It is healthy for both parties. It makes sense for Cain to depart from God if he doesnt want to receive correction and fellowship. It makes sense for Adam and Eve to be released from Eden if they choose other ways of living that differ fundamentally with Gods. It doesnt mean God is furious or unappeasable. It means that He can love them from a distant arrangement. I guess this benefits the other party too. Chances are they cannot stand your company. Let them go. Chances are they cannot be who they really want to be. Your presence restricts and makes them to be pretentious. Liberate them. Yes you have areas where you both flow but the differences cause you more discomfort than gained from your similarities. It gets worse when the similarities are genuine only from one angle and superficial from another. Here, love has to be tough. Learning from Abraham and Lot, we can learn the art of parting amicably. Learning from God and Adam, even Cain for that matter, parting is painful yet it must be peaceful. Are you able, in your mind, to part with the person whom you have loved and shared laughter with, peacefully? Can you truly love them even if it means withholding your hurt and prioritize their joy? Are we able to be peacemakers - the quality of Sons? Today, do know that love does not have to be easy. We can love others to safe parting. We can bless them like Jacob blessed Laban. You can still pray for them, even rescue them, like Abraham rescued Lot. You can still cover them in the blood of Jesus like God covered Adam. And yes, you and I can still protect them from would be murderers like God marked Cain. If this December of 2014 invites you to a loving tough experience, just do it. Love all the way - who knows? Parting doesnt have to be forever. Gods children can never be permanent enemies. Even Esau forgave his twin. God prospered both Esau and Jacob. Pray for your Esau. Pray that God gives him another blessing to soothe his anger or whatever the point of departure. And Esau, pray for Jacob to prosper. Remember, in their eyes YOU and I are Esau, Cain, Adam and Lot. I choose to live peaceably with all men as far as it depends on myself. I also choose to love all men and to let some leave, as far away as they can go. My presence has to be a sweet aroma. I am a Son.
