Day 28: Listen to him. Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry... James 1:19 I have a confession to make. Sometimes, I put words in my husbands mouth. I *think* I know what hes thinking, or what hes going to say, and I react accordingly. I was reading this verse today and focused on the end of it ...and slow to become angry. And it hit me--if we really did the first part of that verse, the second part might follow more naturally. Because I think that if we really listened to our husbands, with no preconceived notions, no insecurities of our own coloring what we think they are going to say, we might just get angry less. Try it out today. This isnt just about those times of argument. Make sure that you arent getting so bogged down by other responsibilities that youre too busy to engage your husband in conversation and listen to him. Todays challenge is to really listen to your husband. Give him your time and full attention--about you, about your household, children, his job--whatever the topic may be, commit to really listening to him.
