Day 30: It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown “Three things I’ve learned never to discuss with people: religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin.” Written by Peanuts cartoonist Charles Schultz, this Emmy nominated television special aired on CBS back in 1966. As Linus waits in vain for the Great Pumpkin to rise from the “most sincere pumpkin patch”, Lucy is threatening to pound him. Meanwhile, Sally is willing to give up her night of candy and happiness for the boy she loves. While Linus waits, the rest of the gang goes out for “tricks or treats”, but poor Charlie Brown gets nothing but rocks. Snoopy, The Great Flying Ace, traverses WW1 France after being shot down by the The Red Baron, and Linus wonders: will the Great Pumpkin ever show? To this day, It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is broadcast on an annual basis and is a fun Halloween tradition.
