Day #39 Michael Day Update... First night without any wild scary dreams (night terrors) and Mike was thrilled to get some good solid chunks of sleeping time. That PTSD is tricky stuff. Noises, lights, sounds from the hall, people sneaking into your room every few hours and jabbing you with needles, all play a huge roll in this unsettling dreams, but last night was much, much better. Yesterday was a lay-back day. He was a little light headed..e to find out he needed a little adjustment on he ol heart meds, and we are up and rolling again today. He walked a lap of the halls with no walker today. Okay, to be perfectly honest, I did follow along with he walker, but apparently, I was the only one who needed it. After that he was cleared to walk around his room by himself, no assistance, no walker. He can get up out of bed, go sit in a chair, move around,use the facilities, all with no help. This is a red letter day. I havent heard damnitdebbie all day. He also walked up 16 stair steps as well. And now for the big news of the day....are you ready..this is really big....no, stop it, do not jump ahead...taunting you is the most fun Ive had all day...okay...here it is...they are beginning to discuss a release date!!!!!!! Now, dont get too crazy, we dont get to go home yet, but we will be moving to Salem, to a cardiac rehab facility, and then the next step is home. The dates they are throwing around are somewhere between the 12-15 of December. We will have this firmed up by early next week. Can I get a big woohoo for that little piece of information? Yes, WOOHOO! The whole staff here is amazed at Mikes progress. I feel a bit like I walking with a celebrity as we cruise the halls. The nurses, aids, RTs, PTs, Sts all come out of rooms and tell him how wonderfully he is doing, and how great he looks, and how they just cant believe how quickly he is progressing. Tomorrow will be another big day. Matt and Deja are bringing Mom up to see us. We are pretty excited. I will have lots of pictures when they get here.
