Day 4 of Harvard brought more great insights and bonding with my house team, which includes the Executive Director of the San Francisco Symphony, the head of $100 million hospital foundation, the head of the largest childrens charity in Singapore, a key leader in Habitat for Humanity, a man doing incredible work in inner-city Chicago, transforming high school graduation rates, the ED of Leadership Rhode Island an the head of United Way in Venezuela. What did we learn: 1) Leadership is the process of bringing a new and generally unwelcome reality to an organization and helping it successfully adapt to it. This rang try for so many of us! 2) That pay for success models of funding are coming our way, whether we want it or not, and 3) Sometimes staying true to ones mission while ignoring the external environment changing may mean you close. Much great food for thought with incredible people to process it. Feel so INCREDIBLY lucky for this opportunity and the insights these amazing people are helping me bring to bear at YFU.
