Day 41: July 12 Brandon, Mississippi to Meridian, Mississippi: 84 miles You know any day that starts out with sponsored chick-fil-a sandwiches is going to be a great day. A great breakfast with some great company was the perfect way to start the day, and we got to sleep until 630!! I was ready for a strong day on the bike after 2 pretty short days. I rode with Michael Judy from Cal Berkeley and Grayson from TCU. The whole team killed it today. We were all moving incredibly fast and the day was going by so quickly. I think the biggest thing that helped was that we actually had decent roads today were we could hold some speed. We were cycling through rolling hills so it was a constant up and down. Every cyclists finished 40 miles just under 2 and a half hours! It was really cool cycling to a crew stop and be able to see most of the team at the crew stop. We were each pushing each other and we were making great time. We made it to lunch at mile 48 before it was even 11. We had a great team bonding memory at lunch and it was pretty awesome! Dallass mom (a crew member on our team) made us all this delicious roadside lunch. There was grilled chicken and multiple pasta salads all washed down with Gatorade on Gatorade. It was a great meal and easy to ride with after eating. After lunch about 10 miles down the road I saw my Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Tom at the next crew stop. She made me a giant poster and cheered me on as I rode in, it was so awesome. It was great seeing the both of them again because it has been a couple years since I have last seen them. We stopped and chatted with them at the crew stop for a bit and took a couple pictures and then we took off and finished the last 25 miles of our ride today. It was another beautiful ride with beautiful tall trees again. We love having these tall trees all around us because it usually blocks the long road ahead of us and makes it shorter and more adventurous. Our lodging today is at Meridian Community College and we get to stay in dorm room apartments again! The lodging just keeps getting better in better. We arrived at 145 and around 3 Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Tom came over and picked me up and we headed over to Popeyes were we sat down had some drinks and talked about the trip. It was awesome catching up and spending some time with them during my free time today. They dropped me back off at lodging and left me and the team with a ton of food! We will definitely be eating a lot of it at lunch tomorrow. Thank you to the both of you for visiting me twice today, I had an awesome time, I love you guys and visits like that really do mean a lot to me so thank you very much! We had a huge dinner with the Meridian First Ladies Civitan Club bad they fed us like kings. We had so many options to choose from like lasagna, chicken wings or even brisket. Not to mention all the sides or desserts that there were to choose from. Another great meal here on south route. The rest of the night we have all kind of just been chilling. Its nice to relax and hang out with your friends after a long day on the bike. There are 4 people to a dorm room again so we got the original crew back from orientation to room up again. It is Zuck, Caleb, Dan and I and we always have a great time rooming together. We all moved our mattresses into the living room because it is the only cool air conditioned room... So this should be an interesting night. Tomorrow we are cycling into Alabama and staying at dorm rooms at the University of Alabama. We are all excited and tomorrow is also our last century day of the trip so my goal is to do it as strong as possible and make it one to remember. The World Cup final is tomorrow at 2pm here so we need to make it in time to watch that! Tomorrow should be an awesome Sunday and another great day on this Journey!
