Day 5 of DAM: Lilly Rae participates in our early intervention - TopicsExpress

Day 5 of DAM: Lilly Rae participates in our early intervention program to help her with her fine and gross motor skills. Its common for little people to be behind in acquiring these skills when compared to a typical developing child. However, children with achondroplasia have their own growth charts and milestone acquisition charts so we use those to gauge how Lilly is growing and developing. Following her spinal surgery Lilly started receiving Physical Therapy and Occupational therapy to address extremely low muscle tone and sensory integration issues. Therapies such as these are controversial for little people because its very important that we do not push Lilly Rae to do things developmentally until she is able to do them on her own! Luckily we have a Phenomenal Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist that has allowed Lilly to lead the therapy sessions and its been a tenuous help! Here is a video of her learning to crawl- any questions?!?!
