Day 7 Tita Chit Layosa tagged me in project Grateful, posting 3 things which I am grateful for... On my last day, 7th day, Im grateful for 1. Trips to America. I usually go to America with my parents. First stop, LA to see my moms sisters, Tita Mina De Leon Javier and Tita Josie D. Martinez, and all the De Leon clan. My aunties never fail to organise a huge family reunion party when we come over, and I know my mom absolutely enjoy these reunions. We all do, because its laughing and eating and eating from the moment we wake up, til we go back to sleep. Its love, closeness and hospitality everywhere. Then we would drive to vegas and stay in 1 big suite... all together.... so memorable. Thank you so much. Then we would visit San Francisco to visit dads sisters, Tita Cora, Tita Helen and ninang Marie Barrios. Oh, and this is another eating fest, and shopping bonanza. We are super spoilt whenever we visit and we are always so grateful. And special, thanks to Ninong Herman who is always our tour guide and chauffeur in one. For Marlon and I, one on the best things about visiting the US is that there are loads of Lolas who can look after our 2 daughters, so that Marlon and I can spend days and days shopping and eating out... Yey... Free baby sitting for us!!!!! Love it!!!! 2.) Trips to the Philippines. It always feels like coming home. Though I have now spent 26 years of my life in Australia, coming to the Philippines still feels like going home. And so we visit the Philippines once a year... Ok, maybe 3 times a year. I love love spending time with my family and friends in the Philippines. I love visiting my home town of Morong to see friends and relatives, go to our beautiful St Jerome church, visit our old house and eat bibingka (sa uling) and puto bungbong (sa plaza). I love shopping in Manila, in greenbelt, and of course greenhills.... and I love the food food food!!!!! I love our gorgeous warm beaches (and there are loads of beautiful beaches in the Phils), that I can just stay in the water all day and swim and snorkel and relax. I still believe the best beaches in the world are in the Philippines. But most of all, I love going to the Philippines to experience the warm hospitality that Filipinos are so famous for, and its true! 3. Our travels. Now, this is where I spurge. I love experiencing other culture, meeting other people and seeing the beautiful scenery of foreign land. I love the adventure, the excitement of being overseas and the unforgettable memories that comes with each trip. From the Great Wall of China, to Norwegian fjords, to the Mt Fuji in Japan, to Niagara Falls, ice skating in New York, Orang Utan sanctuary in Borneo, castles of Denmark, blue lagoon in Iceland, high rise of Singapore, Rhine river of Germany, Alps of Switzerland, romance of Paris, shopping in Hong Kong, rivers of Armsterdam, Churches of Ireland, big red buses of London, pyramids of Egypt, colleseum in Turkey, the Pope in Rome, the sangria of Spain, the stunning beauty of Santorini, the volcanoes of New Zealand, the water holes of South Pacific, and the pilgrimage in Israel.... to name a few... These are enriching experiences that I re-live over and over again, as I recall the wonderful memories of visiting unforgettable, amazing, magical places. I tag Ninang Marie in project Grateful. For the next 7 days, post 3 things which you are grateful for, and tag someone else to do so after each post.
