Day Four in the Meaningful Music Challenge (It has a name now Rochelle Hirsch!) Growing up in the folksome sixties, there was no shortage of Simon and Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, Joan Baez etc in our record cabinet. Then Simon and Garfunkel divorced, Gord went to Europe and Joanie hit the protest trail. Simon came back with his eponymous solo album and it included an instrumental tune called Hobo Blues. I must have listened to it a thousand times: I hadnt heard anything like it before, or frankly, since then. It started a love for violin music for me which I still feed today, and it stands evermore as my favourite tune.
