Deadly shooting Investigation: At approximately 0156 hours, on 11/01/2014, Decatur Police Patrol Officers were in the area of the 1800 Block North Water Street when several gunshots were heard coming from the parking lot area of Jabronis, located 1816 North Water Street. Many vehicles, as well as people on foot, began to quickly vacate the area. Patrol Officers quickly located a handgun and bullet casings on the parking lot of Jabronis. Within minutes, an individual arrived at Decatur Memorial Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. That person was later pronounced deceased. Information concerning the deceased must be retrieved from the Coroner’s Office, pending family notification. Decatur Police Detectives were called in to investigate this shooting incident. Detectives are interviewing persons who were in the immediate area of the shooting. Vehicles have been impounded pursuant to the execution of search warrants. Crime Scene Investigation is being conducted. Detectives are currently seeking additional persons of interest and processing evidence related to the shooting. David Dickerson, Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigations, is encouraging those persons who were present when this incident occurred to come forward and cooperate with police.
