Dear 10-Year-Old Self, Before you ask me when you have your first kiss or if you’ll ever have a boyfriend, I need to tell you some more important stuff first. What’s more important than a first kiss, you ask? Plenty. First of all, dont let that teacher you had last year, Kinard, the one who said you were worthless, make you question your importance until your 15. Shes horrible and years from now shell be boring and bald and trying to get in touch with you to hear all about your next best seller. No, youre not a vampire, but your characters sure as hell get to meet them. Second of all, appreciate mom and dad. Yes, they never seem to let you do anything now except read books, but when you hit 18 and you move to the dorms, youll miss them so much it hurts. Trust me. Third of all, dont hold grudges. Dont allow yourself to hate anyone. Yes, that includes that guy who hit you and managed to bust your lip - you wont remember his name in a year or two anyway. Last, but definitely not least, live for yourself. Breathe for yourself. Do what makes you happy. This is your life. This is it.
