Dear Admin, Found this post in another group, would like to share with you. Please go through it and as mentioned in the post if we need to take some long term measures I feel this is high time. All members please share your views as well. Thank you . Find the post below: Dear BJP, Elections in Delhi are near. I hope that you will use a positive campaign. The population of India is a younger one than ever before and is showing more and more signs of being an aspirational crowd. It is not really bound by religion or caste as much as it was earlier. This is the reason why Modi won an overwhelming majority in the recent LS polls. He is the first one in the history of India who has fought a campaign on the promise of development. Even Congress, which brought in lot of development, feels shy in claiming credit for the same and instead feels safe in decrying free markets and shouting that there are two nations in this country - one India the other Bharat and that the Congress is with the Bharat and not with the India. Had they fought on the plank that they got development to the country, they would have been better off today. Instead, their moribund leadership feels safe in decrying all manners of development, and feels ultra-safe in doling out freebies to, in their opinion, foolish and gullible voters. If you fall back on the tried and tested formula of religion, caste, ethnic lines of asking for votes, I can assure you that you will do much worse. India is changing (Some people say it has already changed) and you would do well to change with it. Do development, and ask for votes in its name. Yes, your central government has done a lot of good things in the recent past. Modi has shown that he is willing to drop leaders if they do not perform. The recent cabinet reshuffle was a clear indicator of that. However, you cannot ask for votes in Modis name only. I dont live in Delhi. However, if I lived there, I would still be in two minds about voting for you. For me, the bigger test is how are your municipalities working. I travel almost every day to Delhi, and, I dont think your municipalities are up to the mark. Everywhere I go, I see huge piles of garbage, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan be damned. Sewers are overflowing and if your local party unit cannot get its act together then I wonder why should one trust you with running the city. In-party democracy is certainly present the most in your party but it translates a lot into in-party bickering. The AAP is clearly placed to encash on this. I know a lot of people are saying that the middle class has deserted the AAP due to their dramebaazi, but that does not explain the rise of their vote share even in middle class localities during the LS elections. Some mantras: 1. Do development. Real groundwork, not just pre-election exercise. People are smart enough, and more so in these social media enabled, urban elections. 2. Use development as the main plank in the elections. 3. Talk of how your long term measures work for the systemic reforms and help in removal of corruption. A weakness of the AAP is that it has inexplicably dropped its raison detre, anti-corruption fight from its election publicity. Plus, AAPs measures are mostly cosmetic and short term, and miss the fact that corruption is a long term and systemic problem, and thus needs system wide changes. Some of Modis anti-corruption measures are being laughed at by many detractors but I think that they are system level changes that will take 2-3 years to start showing real results. Highlight these to showcase your work. 4. People are moving away from politics of identity. Grow up and move on. 5. Booth level management is still a game changer. Use ground level cadres to motivate people to vote. 6. Use social media better than others. It can well be the difference between winning 32 and 36+ seats. Best of luck to all parties. May the best party win! Sincerely, Willing Liberal Reluctant Fundamentalist
