Dear All, 1947 : The Country Celeberated the "Tyrst with Destiny" as the Tricolor got unfurled on the midnight of August 14 / 15 1947. A fragile man with a band of followeres whent to Naokhali - Kolkatta - Pashim Bengal to assuage the feelinges of communal riots. He undertook a fast unto death until peace was restored. Post 1947 - the manifest forms of communal violence have passed by unabshedly until South Mumbai woke up on 11/26 ! 1948 : This fragile man whilst attending a Prayer Metting - fell to an assasins bullet and had the words "Hey Ram " on his lips. 1984 : The first cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma exclaimed to late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi " Saare Jahan se accha hindustan hamara ! " So touched were we all as we glued to the radio. 1990 : The collapse of the Babri Masjid and what followed until March 1993 and continues to this day is an act that is heinous and can be forgiven by Jesus Christ - who said " they know not what they do " 2000; Media - hype and the raging debate between Amartya Sen and Jagdish Bhagwati eminent economists. Yet the squalor remains, child labor exploited, domestic violence and as Mark Tully aptlu places it there are no full stops in India - whilst we gleam over Shantaram ! 2013 : The Tri Forces do their jobs amid all odds ! Many lives are lost - whether in Uttarakhand, Sensitive Border Areas, and yet they protect us ! I have not see a Flag Day for years now ! I have never experienced Monday fast since 1965 ! The slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kisan is lost ! Let each one of us remember them, their families and those who languish in neighboring jails. Let their pangs be felt with every morsel of food. Recall the words " Ye mere vatan ke logon , jara anankh mein bhara na pani jo shaid hue hai unki zara yaad karna " 2013-2014 : Drought or no Drought - we will continue to live in a walled city like Sinhagad ! I have a hope as the Shravan Sun will always bring the rays of Glory back. I have a dream - India Must Be the "Great Place to Live and Work For" You and I can make that difference !
