Dear All, I know that many of you visit Bosnia and Herzegovina every year and that you help support your friends and relatives who still live there. As a matter of fact, without the generosity of the Bosnian diaspora the country’s economy would probably collapse entirely. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the way in which our community came together to help the victims of the 2014 Balkan floods. That is essentially when we began work on Our Splendid Soil. Your contributions have helped many families during the floods – in Prijedor, in Doboj, in Bijeljina, in Sanski Most, in Tuzla, and several small villages that were completely neglected during the chaos. In some instances we were the first to provide any kind of humanitarian aid including food and water. Thanks to your trust and generosity we have become an organization with a reputation for fair dealing and transparency. Thank you especially to those of you who have supported the BiH Back to School Project. Due to the ongoing floods and landslides, this is a particularly uncertain economic time for our countrymen and women and too many cannot afford basic back to school supplies for their children. Thus, your donation is extremely important because it provides resources that make an immediate impact – that will help Bosnia’s children and youth manage through these though times. Your gift of any amount can make all the difference in the lives of the 15 children we’ve identified as especially vulnerable to the devastating effects of Bosnia’s chronic unemployment, environmental devastation, and ongoing poverty.
