Dear All, Irrespective of whether youre gunning for an MBA in Finance or not, it makes sense for every semi-serious B-school aspirant to be somewhat familiar with certain financial terminologies. Finance focused folks NEED to become super-familiar with them while others would certainly benefit greatly as well. Heres why: 1. Financial terms are often bandied about in GDs. They either appear in the topics provided by moderators or are blurted out by other members in their totally-justified pursuit of one-upmanship over you. So you need to know what your GD members are saying so you can respond appropriately. 2. Understanding (not to be confused with that other skill called mugging) financial terms helps you gain a deeper understanding of the economy and also make sense of some of the headlines / stories you would find while reading Economic Times...assuming of course you read Economic Times and not Chennai Times regularly. 3. Having a perspective on banking terms and economic indicators provides some weight to your points when you make them either in a GD or in the PI. Furthermore, making an academically sound point backed by actual CONTENT instead of fluff gets you into the good books of the mod. So to ensure you get some exposure to financial terminologies before your call, find the links to 2 PDFs. First is one with a lot of general finance content while the second one is more appropriate for IIFT aspirants. https://drive.google/file/d/0B69U_m4B96OvOGl2cXF6UjRaZjA/view?pli=1 https://drive.google/file/d/0B69U_m4B96OvZkZfMmxLNEpWZG8/view?pli=1
