Dear All Some weeks ago I put up a post requesting help for a retiring Rheumatologist who is going out to Sierra Leone to help us. I got a flood of offers. As warned by Victor Emeneseh Cummings, the vast majority of those have not materialised. The issue is this.This man was told not to go to Sierra Leone but to go to Somalia instead, as the Country is too dirty. They even made a video of the rubbish dumps that existed until recently outside Connaught Hospital and other parts of the City. Now he is going, initially with his wife for two weeks, then he hopes to stay for a few months with a summer break in between. I have had unflinching support from Peagie Foday. Everyone else, apart from a couple of people whose offers are being processed because of logistical reasons, have not come through. With some it is obvious their offers were for show. I have managed to cobble up a few bits and pieces. However this man still needs accommodation otherwise he will have to stay at Connaught Hospital, and I have been told that the facilities there will prove disappointing. The realityI probably dont know anyone who will need this mans services. I am doing this to help Our Nation. Surprisingly some people dont seem to get this. If anyone wants to help and spearhead the show so they can take some credit I am happy to hand over. All I care about is that our people are helped. without a programme such as this most people will not have access to such expertise. If anyone can GENUINELY help please contact me.
