Dear Alums and Friends of Eastern Soccer, We just completed another successful season, winning the regular season conference championship for the 2nd consecutive year and finishing with a 15-4 record. The quality of our play was recognized by the league, as a MAC Freedom Conference record - 10 players earned MAC Freedom All Conference honors, including Player of the Year (Regional and National All American awards will be announced in the next few weeks). Equally, as important (though harder to describe) is the tremendous growth that we see over the course of their 4 years as people (faith, intellect, vocational clarity, emotional maturity, work ethic, to name a few). With a strong nucleus returning and what we believe will be a very strong recruiting class, we are encouraged about the future direction of the program. While it is rare that I speak about finances, the cost of running a high caliber program continues to rise. For the second year in a row, we have exceeded our operating budget by over $15,000 (without having any overnight trips). We are so thankful to all who have generously contributed to our program and helped us bridge the funding gap. Yet, the gap continues to grow. As a result, we are asking even more of you to support us in impacting the lives of young men through the Eastern Men’s Soccer Program. If you have been impacted by the Eastern Men’s Soccer Program, or believe in the impact that it is having on young men’s lives, please give. Four years ago, Eastern Athletics started the Eagle Club. However, for the first time, Eagle Club members will be able to direct their contributions to a specific program with the Men’s Soccer Program receiving 100% of the Eagle Club membership donation. As a result, we are asking that contributions be given directly through the Eagle Club for the Men’s Soccer Program. As we seek to increase our ability to compete both regionally and nationally, we need to be able to travel further and we need to increase spending on video and performance analysis technology, as well as video marketing for recruiting purposes. We also have need to replace aging items including cold weather gear and a number of our practice training aids.
