Dear Brother/Sister in Christ The extant isiZulu Bibles are either using the isiZulu which the present isiZulu speakers hardly understand or have some mistakes. Consequently some men and women (Review Committee members) are busy remedying such defects at the Durban Bible House under the auspices of the Bible Society of South Africa. These men and women realized that their skills fall short and need your assistance either as an individual, group and/or church to improve their draft translation. They need the assistance of people with good knowledge of Hebrew and/or Greek who can help to check the accuracy of the drafts in relation to the source texts (Old Testament Hebrew and New Testament Greek) and theologians and churches that can assist to curb mistakes with theological slant. The people with good knowledge of isiZulu would help with the choice of appropriate isiZulu vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, readability and orthography. First preference would be given to retired people with Doctorates in Hebrew, Greek, Theology and/or isiZulu while second preference would be retired people with Master Degrees in Hebrew, Greek, Theology and/or isiZulu. The third preference would be given to people with Honors Degrees and so on. But any person, church and institution that can be of assistance is welcome. We need the assistance of all men, women, youth, churches and institutions that can be of assistance in this isiZulu Bible project to take part. Churches and groups may help to improve the draft translation by reading the drafts as reading/review groups. Therefore, you can and need to assist us. Unfortunately time is against us. Your assistance is needed urgently because it is about people who should know God before they die. It is a life-saving exercise! Could I therefore kindly request you to distribute this letter as widely as possible, and to send the contact details of any prospective assistance as soon as possible to Mrs Norinda van der Westhuizen at [email protected] , telephone 021 910 8746, or to the email address or postal address in this letter below. Thanking you in advance for your assistance in this most important and urgent matter.
