Dear Business Owner / Manager: My name is Curt Faucheaux and I am 37 years old. I was born with Cystic Fibrosis ( a lung disease). Due to the CF, I had to have a double lung transplant on January 28, 2005 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. Doctor Vincent Valentine who preformed the transplant is no longer in New Orleans. He now sees post transplant patients and performs transplants at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas. I use to have to go to Galveston once every 3 months to see the Doctor. About a year and a half ago I got really sick and it triggered Chronic Rejection. Chronic Rejection can NOT be reversed. It can be stabilize, and Doctor Valentine has achieved in getting it to stay where it is. However I no longer can wait to see the Doctor once every three (3) months. I have been going back and forth from my home in Thibodaux, La. To the Doctor’s Office in Texas every 4 to 6 weeks. They have to keep a close eye on the rejection in order to address the issue with medicines if my test numbers start to drop again. When I travel to Texas there are a lot of medical expenses that has to come out of pocket that can be expensive. I have to pay for gas, food, logging, medicine co-pays and over the counter meds that isn’t covered by insurance. There is also the possibility if the PFT #s drop, the Doctors may not let me come home for weeks at a time until they can get the meds to work. However, they don’t always keep me in the hospital. I may have to stay in a hotel for 3 or 4 weeks before they allow me to travel home. This becomes very costly. The Street Survivors, a local motorbike club is sponsoring a fundraiser called a Poker Chip Run to try and help raise money to help pay for these expenses related to the transplant. This fundraiser will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in Thibodaux, La. Their will be door prizes, food, and a live auction to help raise the funs. My family, friends, and I are asking you if your company will please consider donating anything to help out. We are looking for items for the auction, items for the door prizes, donated supplies to help with the food, or anything that could help make this fundraiser a success. All proceeds will go to COTA (Children’s Organ Transplant Association) who manages the money. NO money will go directly into my pocket. Receipts has to be turned into this non-profit group, and they will pay for anything related or due to the transplant. This group also has an on line web site at COTA.org if you would like to read up more on this group. They have also set up a page to donate directly to my account at cota.donorpages/PatientOnlineDonation/COTAforCurtF/ Note: to any company who donates, we do have the Federal Identification Number to use for your tax breaks. There will also be a big banner with the names of those companies who donate to help advertise their company. Any consideration to help will be greatly appreciated by my family, Friends, and my self. Thank you for your time. Curt J. Faucheaux
