Dear Calvary Christian Church Family and Friends, Why did Rahab - TopicsExpress

Dear Calvary Christian Church Family and Friends, Why did Rahab help the spies? In verse nine she makes it plain, “I know the LORD hath given you the land…” Here is a heathen woman who is pronouncing the Covenant promise of God! Next she is testifying of the great deliverance that God had performed in order to bring his people to the place where his promise would be fulfilled. When we have a promise from God and are willing to go wherever we must to see that promise fulfilled for his purpose, we will always see his power perform whatever miracle is necessary to bring it to pass! These spies took their mission believing that God would bring his promise to pass for the children of Israel. Everything they encountered along the way were simply steps in the process of fulfillment. The belief they had caused them to correctly respond to the opposition that arose and that would become their opportunity! The transferable principle is that when we have a promise of God and go forward believing to see it fulfilled we too will respond properly as we watch God make a way! CONTINUING IN THE WORD BIBLE STUDY – Joshua 2:9, “And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. 10 For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. 11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.” WEDNESDAY PRAYER GUIDE - PRAY FOR OUR LOCAL, STATE, AND NATIONAL LEADERS ASKING GOD TO GRANT THEM WISDOM, DISCERNEMENT, AND HEARTS THAT ARE OPEN TO HIS LEADING. PRAY FOR THEIR FAMILIES AND ADVISORS. OSWALD CHAMBERS DEVOTIONAL - The Miracle of Belief My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom . . . —1 Corinthians 2:4 Paul was a scholar and an orator of the highest degree; he was not speaking here out of a deep sense of humility, but was saying that when he preached the gospel, he would veil the power of God if he impressed people with the excellency of his speech. Belief in Jesus is a miracle produced only by the effectiveness of redemption, not by impressive speech, nor by wooing and persuading, but only by the sheer unaided power of God. The creative power of redemption comes through the preaching of the gospel, but never because of the personality of the preacher. Real and effective fasting by a preacher is not fasting from food, but fasting from eloquence, from impressive diction, and from everything else that might hinder the gospel of God being presented. The preacher is there as the representative of God— “. . . as though God were pleading through us . . .” (2 Corinthians 5:20). He is there to present the gospel of God. If it is only because of my preaching that people desire to be better, they will never get close to Jesus Christ. Anything that flatters me in my preaching of the gospel will result in making me a traitor to Jesus, and I prevent the creative power of His redemption from doing its work. “And I, if I am lifted up. . . , will draw all peoples to Myself” (John 12:32). Bible in One Year: Psalms 18-19; Acts 20:17-38 Have a great prayer time and a Wonderful Wednesday! Pastor MichaEl
