Dear Church Family, About two months ago some of you spoke with Zylkia Rivera after church on a Sunday morning about the possibility of a new dual language charter school opening up in Reading. I am a tentative new member of that Board and am asking if you would consider attending a public hearing tomorrow late afternoon at the Reading School District Admin. building (across from City Hall, 8th & Washington). It is at 5:00 PM, which I know is an inconvenient time, but it should only be an hour long. The Board is looking for city residents (any age!) who would support this idea to come out and 1) represent the interest that is there 2) share with the judge why this dual language charter school would benefit the children of Reading. Even if you dont want to speak, just your presence there would show support! Non-city residents are free to attend, but I think they are looking for only City residents to speak. Sometimes these things seem insignificant, but it is only because of them that bigger things can take place. If this petition is not approved by the Reading School District, the school will not open at this time. Please consider joining me tomorrow night for an hour or so to advocate for better education opportunities for kids in Reading! Zylkia and her husband, both founding members, are Christians and have a heart for what God is going to do in Reading. I think that it is important to support this endeavor!
