Dear Church Have you ever had to use Ralgex, or Deep Heat? I - TopicsExpress

Dear Church Have you ever had to use Ralgex, or Deep Heat? I have and the mere smell of it reminds me of a mixture of damp sports kit, mud, sweat, and blood, the sweet smell of the changing rooms in any and every rugby club I have ever been in. We used it especially on a freezing winters day, rubbing it into the leg muscles before a game to help warm up. As its rubbed into the skin and it goes deep into the muscle, it is a puzzle to me how that works. I know I will use it again one day, not for rugby, most likely just to get out of bed, I am a realistic person. But it can be painful, if you get Ralgex on a sensitive part of your body you know all about it, it is horrible. I learnt a trick one day off of an old prop I was playing against. He had rubbed the stuff into his shirt front and as we went into the scrum it went on the back of my neck and the side of my face, it was a distracting agony that I had to endure the whole match, he even wiped my face with it, I could hardly see. Very mean trick, and I would like to say I never used it myself on the field of battle but..... I am nice now. But there is a lesson in this. You can try and fix your life on the outside, but it is your heart that needs mending, your need saving and healing deep within your person and only Jesus can do that. Everything else is just wishful thinking, idolatry and a waste of time. In the prayer meeting this week we were praising and thanking God for his work in us, the deep healing that only he can do. We try and fix things, often scrabbling around on the surface of our lives trying to sort out issues, habits or addictions and it never really works. Jesus is different, a relationship with God our Saviour gets to the heart of us and fixes us from the inside out. We need to allow Gods grace to work in our lives, to rub it into us. But it can be a bit sore at times, it needs repentance, we need to overcome our pride, admit our weakness, confess and recognise sin, put things right with others, say sorry when we are wrong. We need to recognise we sin and need a saviour. If you can do this then you will get your heart healed, the deep inside person, the real you, your soul. Then you will know peace. Jesus is deep heat for your heart, amen
