Dear Class of ‘15, Please read my post below for information as to what my team of officers and I have accomplished in the past academic year and how we have learned and gained experience that would be valuable to us next year. I cannot stress enough how much I love this job. I have always taken pride in going to a school with students who are so motivated in so many aspects of life from academics to athletics to the fine and performing arts to activism and community service. All of you great individuals combine to create a whole grade that I am equally proud of and respect a lot. I will listen to any problems big or small (and bring to the administration if necessary) as I did this year. Here are some plans and ideas for next year: - Back to school dance already planned and confirmed for September, with all profits going to the senior class!!!! -Spring Pep rally already confirmed for next year to recognize winter and spring sports for their efforts!!! -We have already worked with the administration to create a plan for the library that will expand workspace and allow everyone to rock their first semester grades! - Many fundraisers for our class to go towards improving prom, senior class gift , and other activities. -Two fundraisers for individuals that allow students to subsidize their own prom tickets by selling yankee candles and wrapping paper. This way students can lower their own ticket price drastically in contrast to the 1-5$ decrease that fundraising hundreds of dollars would affect all the tickets. - An outdoor class event in the fall to start of senior year! This would also be a fundraiser for the class by charging cheap prices for a BBQ and games with potential to win fun prizes. - Help AB crew, AP art, and other groups gain publicity and funding that they deserve. -I created a list after talking to a ton of students about what they liked and disliked about prom. I hope to use these to work with the junior class officers next year to make our prom the best way to end senior year. -Use the input from the homework free weekend survey to continue to work with administration as to how they can be regulated better, to reduce and not increase student stress. -To continue talks with administration I will present at teacher conferences about the importance of incorporating more extra-credit in classes so that one bad test grade doesnt prevent you from showing your understanding. Voting opens tomorrow and I encourage you all to vote and let your voice be heard! We are ranked the third best school in MA (swag), but honestly I consider it #1 and it would be an honor to continue serving you all.
