Dear Curt, I have no idea of how many papers were contacted as we currently have a young press secretary handling this. She has been working on getting word out about the trees we want to see saved for sometime , as well as teaching us about computers. We are pulling out all stops in hopes of solving this diplomatically and public opinion seems to be on the side of saving what little old growth we have left. Our petition has gone global. We have been given to understand that Blue Ridge is a company specifically targeting old growth cedars. Perhaps it is time they diversified. We have noticed that the big cedars next to the river at 3km on the Duncan are also ribboned. This does not even look like good timber, but if these trees go, it will be enabling the river to change and could easily wipe out the farm at 1km. We saw what happened at East Ck. when the big trees next to the river were taken. The river flowed right in! Did you see what Hamill Ck did? Times are changing and high water is nothing to fool around with. There are also ribbons at 4km which is one of the last mushroom areas left. Sunshine logging made short work of the others this spring. There is more to a forest than the trees and local mushroomers are getting upset that they are given zero consideration in this forest district. Where does the cutting permit for 58km stand? Gabriela
