Dear FaceBook friends: Cher Dale (Cj Dale) has been selling my art since 1968 & became my agent in 1975 ... I would like to share with all of you a message she posted on her FB page this morning–– ––––––––––––––– 1968 is when I began in Animal Rights work … 1st in gathering signatures (back in those days done face to face by hand on small index cards!) & my 1st protests were against the slaughter of the baby Harp seals. In early 1970s I worked alongside Brigitte Bardot in the fight against the slaughter of the Baby Harp Seals for their “white–coats”. Harp seals can live a life of 30 to 35 years, but they are targeted when they are between 3 weeks to 3 months old. In 1985 I gave up eating meat, poultry & fish, however, I remained ignorant relative to the HORRORS of the dairy industry. I FORCED myself to watch the undercover videos in Factory Farming of Animals –– afterwards I immediately gave up all dairy but would occasionally find myself cheating on cream for my coffee … so, to CURE myself … I forced myself to watch more videos while crying & screaming out in pain for these dear animals. THAT cured my craving for cream in my coffee!!!! In these last few weeks … I have become overwhelmed in grief for the BILLIONS of animals that continue to live a life of TORTUROUS HELL to then be slaughtered for SIMPLY the selfish pleasure of TASTE BUDS. I kept thinking WHY does this continue when all of us with average intelligence –– SHOULD (by NOW) know that eating animals & animal by-products is UNHEALTHY for humans & UNHEALTHY for the environment –– if you don’t know this … I am sorry you live under a rock. These past few weeks have so disappointed me in my discovering that family, friends & acquaintances –– I have known for years –– still are NOT affected enough to CHANGE their life style from their being involved in such PRIMITIVE & BARBARIC choices. Worse yet, they feed their children these UNHEALTHY food products…??? I became overwhelmingly depressed over these facts –– because I figured… I am at least of average intelligence, I have had a rather interestingly successful history in that: ––I went to college (did not complete college or get a degree) ––Became a Flight Attendant & used that career to develop other businesses around the world–– ––Became & remained an Artist’s Agent (for an important American Artist) for the past nearly 1/2 decade ––Owned as many as (10) Art Galleries ––Owned a Publishing Atelier ––Owned a Restaurant ––Lived in interesting cities: • Dallas • NYC • San Diego • Brussels, Belgium So WHY can’t I “move” others enough for them to read & see how HORRID it is for them to continue to be a part of this primitive lifestyle. I was even beginning to SHOUT out meanly in my POSTS on FaceBook. Then finding myself so discouraged & in such despair … I went online to do some research to find out HOW is Brigitte Bardot doing & what is she doing…??? OmGawd … she is now 80 years old & CONTINUES to work to help the animals, and, yes, there she was (recently) also with tears streaming down her face in such sadness for the animals being so horridly mistreated… Hell, the French fisherman are now using LIVE dogs & cats for bait to catch shark!!! Here she is STILL fighting for the lives of baby seals too…!!! She told in an interview… There has never been a case in history where so many animals have been slaughtered en mass as to today. The weaknesses come from our governments, which are unable to apply directives and to take their responsibilities seriously. Animals have no rights and have no protections so there is no difference. I have tried desperately in the past, and I am still trying with my popularity and with my name to make things change. In short, to make a difference in these animals lives. She was asked back when she was age 66 (now 80)–– ...In your achievements so far, for the animals, what ones are you most proud of? She answered–– None! None whatsoever! For every victory has lead to a defeat: baby seals, fur, hunting, horse-meat – what a horror! It is never ending and I am 66 years old. Frankly, I am tired with all these fights leading us one step forward and three steps back. All of these short victories have turned into big defeats. ––––––Nevertheless we will not give up. She also stated–– I have spent my entire life trying to make people respect all animal life. The respect of their lives is as ours, essential to the ecological system as well. It has been my experience that almost everyone does not care about this issue, and I cannot be everywhere. The human race makes me feel so upset. It is money that rules this world and leads to the worst possible atrocities. YET… her message is this–– Her message to all activists is… ––––––“KEEP fighting the GOOD fight. My heart still ached … but, I brushed away my tears, washed my face & said OK … I will continue with my work. I will “KEEP fighting the GOOD fight” –– my pain is NOTHING in comparison to what happens to BILLIONS of animals! Then I went on FaceBook and there I saw …(2) NEW FRIENDS reached out to me via FaceBook –– I realized they CARE what I am feeling & going thru … I am not alone. Cj Dale I, Paul Maxwell, was only vaguely aware until thru Cheryls efforts, I was brought to realize the urgency with which each of us must address the moral, ethical & environmental concerns for all living beings. – I no longer eat any animals or animal by-products – I no longer wear anything taken from the life of an animal – I no longer buy leather furniture – I no longer buy automobiles with leather upholstery Etc.
