"Dear Friends, After popular demand the Central Station Art Contest is finally here! We will be accepting submissions from Artist through the end of this month. The space on front our building where the "Central Station Art Contest" is currently painted. This highly visible surface has brought much publicity and therefore more work for prior artists. Our Art Square is located on the front side of our building at 2131 Central Avenue and will be the actual surface that will be awarded to the lucky artist for their work. Know upfront that it is a challenging surface to paint as it is created from roof shingles. Prior artist have stated that Spray paint works best to fill in the knocks and crannies quickly. But we are open to new ideas for the ART SQUARE ONLY. No other surface is part of this contest. Rules for submissions are as follows: 1. Print out a simple picture of the Central Avenue Art Square on the front of Central Station (feel free to use the picture we have posted on Facebook) 2. Draw whatever you want on the 8.5" x 11" print out. 3. Submit your complete contact information (name, email, phone number) + your drawing of what you intend to paint on our Art Square + a short paragraph of why you want to paint that on Central Station for all of Charlotte to see. We encourage uplifting and community loving art submissions or something that goes well with Halloween. Submissions must be brought to us during business hours or simply email it to us via Facebook no later than SEPTEMBER 30th, 2013. 4. All submissions will be reviewed by our panel of judges and each story or paragraph will be carefully considered as the "spirit of the artist." 5. The winner will be contacted no later than October 5th, 2013. You must have your work completed on the Art Square by October 15th, 2013. This is the maximum time that will be allowed to complete you work on the Art Square located at 2131 Central Avenue. PRIZE AND AWARD: A $50 bar tab will be awarded to the winning artist + a special award during the show at our Halloween Carnival Festival at the end of October + all the Love and Publicity you can stand for this highly visible advertisement for your art work + we are reaching out to multiple media sources to spread the word about the Amazing Artist! The last piece of featured art appeared on three different local TV stations and was featured in over four print publications!
