Dear Friends, I am organising a Syrian Supper Club at my house - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, I am organising a Syrian Supper Club at my house in London Fields on 15 April. There will be cocktails - rose water, cardamom, lime, ginger, mint; an abundance of wholesome, smoky and delicious mezze - balilah, baba ghanouj, spiced nuts, muhammara; and plentiful and fragrant sweet things - dates, figs, baklava - all prepared by the super-talented chef Ruth Quinlan. I’m asking guests for £50/ head ticket donation, every penny of which goes direct to HANDS UP FOR MEDICAL SALARIES, an appeal that supports a medical team working at a field hospital in Aleppo. You can read more on the Syrian Supper Club website about why this appeal is such a good way not only to support the immediate injured but also to do something positive towards rebuilding the future in Syria, however uncertain that seems right now. One of the guests has offered to match fund all donations, so this is a fantastic opportunity to dig deep for people who desperately need our help. The match funding will go to HAND IN HAND FOR SYRIA, who are one of the most effective charities working inside the borders. One of the original Syrian Supper Club collective will join us at the dinner, probably George, who will have returned just a few days earlier from one of the refugee camps in Lebanon, and can share insights about the humanitarian effort on the ground. Come! It’ll be a wonderful collection of people getting together to show solidarity and give generously to an urgent cause. RSVP to me at sophiehowarth@btinternet And please share this post! Sophie x
