Dear Friends, Reading Babi Yar in college, had a profound effect - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, Reading Babi Yar in college, had a profound effect on me. Different writings by Henry David Thoreau and Walt Whitman had profound effects on me in high school. Reading The Red Pony by Steinbeck, Charlottes Web, The Miracle on Maple Hill and all of the Bobbsey Twins books, had profound effects on me in elementary school. Occasionally, I catch myself worrying about my journey, my physical presence, being mediocre. I find myself castigating myself because I feel mediocrity taking root. I catch myself chastising myself because I havent done more with my life. Its as though my life is a waste of space. Shoot, it is very conceivable that I could easily live thirty more years. I dont want those years to be spent living a life of quiet desperation. I want to make a positive difference, to be a delightful presence to be around, to be an up lifter, an encourager and never ever a joy dampener! I want to be thought of as a woman full of laughter and love. A woman who was fun to be around is how I want to be remembered. I dont expect to have a profound effect but I do want to make a positive difference :o) Life was meant to be lived, and curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life. - Eleanor Roosevelt Penelope
