Dear Gov. Chris Christie: I understand your respect and admiration - TopicsExpress

Dear Gov. Chris Christie: I understand your respect and admiration for your “native son”, James Gandolfini, who admittedly was a wonderful actor. I am surprised however, that you have ordered the flags in your state to fly at half-staff tomorrow, in his honor. My question to you is this: When did we as a nation start honoring Hollywood actors and actresses with this practice? Honoring a GREAT Actor is really no different than honoring A GREAT PLUMMER, A GREAT WAITRESS, A GREAT MOM, or even A GREAT TEACHER. Their title, if you will, is simply their profession. Being an actor in Hollywood does not make someone BETTER than say, being a janitor for a small company in the Midwest. I notice that a proclamation to honor our true heroes, (the fallen men and women of the armed forces), has been available to you at your discretion, but that you have not ordered the flags flown at half-staff in New Jersey upon the death of any of THOSE “native sons and daughters”. Do they not deserve MORE honor and respect than ANY OF US? In closing Mr. Christie, I would personally like to thank you for your service to our country in the capacity of Governor of New Jersey. I would also like to ask that in the future, please consider the feelings of the many Americans who share mine on this issue, and reserve the honor of flying the flag at half-staff for those for whom it was originally intended.
