State Government Past Evidences Further Quote That:- The Zamindar of sethul (50 Miles from here) was very rich, but blind. Lord Venkateswara in his dreams, appeared and told that the will give Darshan to him, in the papal tree. The zamindal, queastioned the Lord that being himself blind, how can be worship? In turn the Lord assureed him that his blindness in one eye will get cured, the next morning and the other eye will get Vision, when he comes to worship him. The zamindar Conveyed this matter to his neighbours and reached the place, where the pipal tree with the idols, was present. He was so much excited with the Lord’s and Darshan decided to construct a temple for lord Venkateswara. But he could not spot out the suitable place. At that time, Lord Venkateswara directed him, through the priest of Sastha Temple , to construct the temple for him at the South side of the place. As the temple for Lord Venkateswara was constructed at the place of sastha this town has been named there after as ‘Sattur’ and the Lord bears the name Satturappan. The zamindar unearthoned idols of the Lord and Goddess from under the pipal tree constructed the temple and conducted the Mahakumbabishekam in a grand manner, headed by the priests of thirupathi this town is also named as Padanthal and the temple has the name Thenthirupathi (Thirupathi of south) as the idols were brought from North India. Salient Feature Of The Temple:- This temple has been constructed entirely by rocks. After a long period of about 200 years, repair works were carried out and the Kumbabishekam function was held on 05.02.1990. To the south of the temple is the shrine of Goddess Alamelmanga, in a sitting posture. In the Northern side, is the shrine of Goddess Andal, in a standing posture.In addition, to the north side of the temple is located the shrine of twelve Azhwars, nearer to which the Paramapatha Entrance and the Yagasala are located. The traditional pipal tree, under which the main idols were earthened is also present in the temple. Lord Anjaneya, is under this tree, worshipping towards Lord Venkateswara. The distinct feature ofthis temple is that Lord Venkateshwara in a standing posture, towards East, governs and protects the entire society of Sattur Town
